Iodine Pre-dip

 

The second stage in milking is the Iodine “Pre-dip”.  This dip disinfects any bacteria or foreign substances that may have clung to the teat since the last milking.  The Iodine dip prevents these substances from both contaminating the milk storage and entering the cow’s teat.  In the event of bacteria entering the cow’s teat, there is a potential for problems including infection and Mastitis.
